The Contemporary Period dates from the 1980s until the present.  In this period artists explored freely techniques and media in their works, using bright colors and strongly symbolic imagery.  Inspiration from folk, pop and surreal Western art movements surfaces frequently, with diverse and often surprising representations and meanings.
