Nyoman Gunarsa was born in 1944 in Klungkung, a town in Bali, Indonesia. He graduated from Academy of Fine Arts in Yogyakarta, Indonesia in 1963, where he has been a teacher for over 27 years. Mr. Gunarsa has received many awards for his inimitable artistic style characterized by lively brushstrokes and colorful palette, including the International European Prize (Belgium), the Siwa Nataraja Award (Indonesia), and Dharma Kusuma from the Governor of Bali.

Mr. Gunarsa's paintings, focused largely on capturing the dazzling color and movement of Balinese dancers, have been exhibited throughout Asia, Europe, and the United States. His works are permanently exhibited at most Indonesia Museums, the Presidential Palace in Bogor, the Fukuoka Museum, the Heritage Museum in St, Petersburg, the National Museum of Singapore, the East-West Center in Honolulu, the Unilever Building in Rotterdam, and the Hamburgiche. Bank Building in Hamburg.
